Partnerships

As a charitable project, we are reliant on funding to maintain our services and activities.
Community has always been at the heart of our project, and we are proud of the strength of our founding partnerships with :
-
Glasgow Sport
-
Scottish Rowing
-
Glasgow Kayak Club
-
Partick Thistle Football Club.
Our community connections have extended to work with local schools, charities and other youth groups to offer access to our tuition, equipment and experience.

We have been grateful recipients of a range of funding (link to Our History page) but of course, we are always having to prioritise raising more funds to keep the project running and ideally to build it further. If you are a foundation, trust or funding sponsor with the potential to help in any way, we would of course be delighted to hear from you via email (enquires.fypcsh@gmail.com) or contact form (link).

"The Firhill Youth Project have an amazing group of dedicated people, we had the good fortune to work with them over the past few months. In the near future, we hope to open another Shed near Firhill and do even more partnership work with them."
Tom, Chairman, Springburn Men's Shed (2022)
“Our young people at North United Communities have loved the experience of rowing at Firhill Youth Project & Community Sport Hub, it has been a wonderful chance for them to learn a completely new skill as well as enjoy being on the water and in the outdoors. Several young people have talked about how the experience of learning the rowing techniques and making progress has improved their confidence and have said they would like to go on longer rows beyond the basin. They were initially scared but through the encouragement of the coaches have come out of their comfort zone which has been positive for the group dynamic”
Blair, North United Communities (2023)
“I wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for the amazing kayaking and rowing experience you provided. It was truly fantastic, and we had an incredible time on the water. Our group of women and children were all thoroughly delighted by the adventure. Personally, I must say, I enjoyed it immensely, and I feel like I learned so much. Your expertise and hard work made the day exceptional. Thank you very much for your dedication and for creating such a memorable outing. We look forward to more wonderful experiences in the future. Keep up the fantastic work!”

"Since 2019 Active Schools have benefited from a partnership with Firhill Youth Project & CSH. Having a facility such as this in the North of Glasgow takes away most of the barriers to participating in what would otherwise be an elusive experience. Due to their funding our schools have been able to attend free of charge, again removing another barrier to participation. Staff have commented on not only the rowing skills acquired over the block but also the experiences of pupils working as a team to problem solve both on and off the water."
Tracey, Active Schools Coordinator (2022)
"Our GCC pupils have continued to enjoy free access to the Firhill rowing project this year. Having a facility such as this in the North of Glasgow takes away most of the barriers to participating in what would otherwise be an elusive experience. The programme connects schools to the outdoor activities and leisure opportunities within their neighbourhoods and increases awareness for pupils and their families."

“The pupils loved learning a new
skill and exploring their local area on the water...
I noticed a
positive change in all pupils as the weeks went on, namely in their ability to communicate,
problem solve and work together. In addition to
this, friendships were strengthened through
learning a new skill and having a shared interest”
